Bomet: Bride cancels wedding at the last minute seeking more time to make up her mind

A church wedding that was scheduled for Saturday in Kapsoiyo, Bomet County, was aborted at the last minute after the would-be bride pleaded with the planning committee to be given more time to make up her mind.

The wedding planning committee, led by Kapsoiyo Africa Gospel Church (AGC) Pastor Clement Chalulot, received a cancelation letter from a Reverend who was to conduct the ceremony stating that the ceremony would not continue as scheduled after a misunderstanding between the two families.

According to Pastor Chalulot, the event was canceled despite the family of the groom having paid the dowry, three cows and other requirements.

“Yesterday, as by the agreement, she refused to give us her documents like ID and other requirements. She was also not willing to cooperate with us, even though her man to be was assuring us that all was well,” stated the Pastor.

“We are lucky we spent only Ksh.50,000 out of our total budget of Ksh.256,000 for the event.”

Pastor Chalulot, at the same time, said a group of emissaries had earlier been dispatched to reconcile the two families, but the lady stood her ground and refused to be part of the discussion.

Following the botched event, hundreds of villagers who had milled around waiting for the big day were treated to free mursik and other perishable foodstuffs that were prepared for the big day as efforts to return the dowry got underway.
