The lawmaker said most of the materials used to build the house were shipped from abroad – Sudi who was born in a poor family rose from being a matatu conductor along the Eldoret-Kesses route .
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi is loved and hated in equal measure in the political scene by his supporters and critics respectively.
The legislator was elected on a United Republican Party (URP) ticket in 2013 and re-elected through Jubilee in 2017 is a close ally of Deputy President William Ruto, with his loyalty to the latter leading him into the current troubles he faces.
Sudi, 40, was recently on the spot for uttering statements perceived to be demeaning to President Uhuru Kenyatta’s family, an incident that has also put him at loggerheads with police officers.
A contingent of police officers was on Friday, September 11, night and early hours of Saturday, September 12 deployed around Sudi’s Kapseret home. This was in a bid to arrest him over an unspecified offence, the MP having addressed a peaceful rally earlier in Eldoret.
However, the officers were met with resistance from Sudi’s supporters who guarded his palatial and vast home where his KSh 100 million huge and beautiful house sits.
Below are photos capturing the house that was officially opened by the deputy president in 2015, over two years after the legislator’s election into the National Assembly.
The MP who has on many occasions acknowledged he did not study a lot said he built the house from his own resources from his multiple businesses.
The homestead also has a swimming pool and a vast lawn where he can host a meeting for a multitude. Oscar Sudi’s two wives are reported to have their special spaces in the huge house that has two wings.
According to the lawmaker, most of the materials used to build the house was shipped from abroad including China. There are several gates for one to pass through before accessing the main house.
The MP’s house has modern floors, furniture and even a high-end office space. In a photo he had shared on Twitter, the politician who vowed not to apologize to Uhuru and dared police officers to arrest him urged Kenyans to work from home.
He later turned away from the stance after an expose highlighting massive theft of COVID-19 personal protective equipment at Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (KEMSA). Prominent leaders from the larger Rift Valley attended the official opening of the house graced by DP William Ruto.
During the official opening of the house, the leader who said he began making ends meet by being a matatu conductor being born in a poor family, introduced his two wives Lillian and Anne.
Sudi said the house was a reward for his hard work, firmly stating that he was able to account for every coin he has made in life since he rose from being a matatu conductor along the Eldoret-Kesses route.
