Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has assured all contractors who have completed the construction of CBC classrooms that the ministry has set aside Sh3.2 billion.

While touring completed CBC classrooms in schools within Siaya County, the CS disclosed that the government had already secured the money to cater for the construction of the classrooms.

Prof. Magoha advised all the contractors who have finished their works to ensure they submit all the necessary paperwork for immediate payment.

“Please transmit the reports of completion of works done direct to my office, your monies are there and let no one take advantage of you. We will pay you promptly,” said Magoha.

The CS who was flanked by Siaya County Commissioner Mohammed Barre directed the public works officers to ensure the documents are forwarded for payment not later than three days upon submission by the contractors.

However, he warned the committees supervising the construction of the classrooms against creating barriers for payment to the contractors.

Prof. Magoha assured of the government’s preparedness for the rollout of the junior secondary education programmes, noting that they have so far completed the construction of over 1,000 CBC classrooms countrywide.

He added that training of the CBC teachers is on course ahead of the rollout of the junior secondary education next year while also confirming that the distribution of Grade 6 books has now been done across the country.
