As *Kuppet Secretary Secondaries Kenya* having gathered teachers feelings on TPD on all our walls and in staff rooms we collectively state that.
1. Refresher courses are good but should not be this punitive to teachers. We find TPD punitive in the following ways.
a) *That* the teachers should pay for the training, on this we say no considering that teachers are financially straining due to lack of Monetary CBA.
b) *That* the TPD will be done during holidays, we say no for the academic calendar is really stressed. This will cause a lot of stress to already stressed teachers.
c) *That* the course will take 30yrs and will lead to renewal of the teaching certificate, we say no to these too for itj is not necessary at all, we have all gone through proper training to be teachers.
d) *That* the TPD have no monetary or mobility value thus technically waste of time and resources.
e) *That* tsc has not fully used teachers who have advanced with masters and Phd’s, we ask tsc to focus on remunerating those who have advanced to motivate others to take positively those other courses in future.
f) *That* it is unfortunate that our CEO, refers to teachers as semi skilled, these statement demoralised teachers and they are demanding for an apology from the Tsc CEO.
As Secretary Secondaries in Kuppet Kenya we call upon the 1.Kuppet NEB to reconsider its decision to support TPD as seen in the Media.
2. Tsc to stop the whole process of TPD for it is time wasting and will impact negatively on the delivery of the teacher.
3. The office of the President to intervene in this matter.
