Kenyan lawyer Ahmednasir Abdulilahi has come out to withdraw from consideration to represent Kenya

Kwanza alliance presidential candidate William Ruto at the Supreme court this week when a case challenging his victory is expected to be heard.

In a statement on social media, Ahmednasir revealed that even though he may be willing to represent president elect Dr William Ruto,

he cannot do so as he is tied down by the law having represented president Uhuru Kenyatta in court in 2017.

He says that if he goes ahead and represents William Ruto in court, president Uhuru Kenyatta can

successfully challenge this because Uhuru’s current political camp (Azimio la umoja One Kenya coalition party) is a

party to this case and he has advocate privilege and Ahmednasir cannot act against him this time.

“I want but i can’t act for President Elect William Ruto in the Supreme Court. I am conflicted.

In 2017 I acted for outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta against Hon Raila Odinga.

Now that, Hon Raila is challenging Ruto’s victory obviously Uhuru will object and raise clients-Advocate privilege,” he announced.
