Ministry Invites Teachers For P1, ECDE Upgrading Programme; How To Apply

Teachers are invited to apply for admission to teacher training colleges (TTCs) for an upgrade from Certificate in Early Childhood Teacher Education (ECDE) and Primary Teacher Education (PTE) to Diploma in Early Childhood Teacher Education (DECTE) and Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE).

 

 

This program is designed for qualified teachers in the aforementioned categories who have yet to be hired by the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), county government, or the private sector.

 

 

 

The school-based upgrading program for serving teachers will begin in April 2023.

Application forms are available on the Ministry of Education’s website, www.education.go.ke.

 

 

 

To facilitate verification of original certification and testimonials, applicants should submit duly filled application forms in person to the Sub County Directors of Education office from Thursday, July 28th, 2022, to Thursday, August 18th, 2022.

Those with disabilities are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should only register at one center. Double registration will result in disqualification.

 

The fees and other requirements will be specified in the letter of offer.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS FOR DIPLOMA UPGRADE IN EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER EDUCATION (DECTE)

The applicant must have a current, non-provisional ECDE certificate.

 

 

The ECDE certificate must be from a recognized training institution.

The course will take 1890 hours to complete.

The course will be entirely residential and will last five terms, four for tuition and one for practicum.

The trainee must complete all of the courses specified in the Diploma in Early Childhood Upgrading Programme.

Education for Teachers (DECTE) The trainees must complete a 300-hour teaching practicum.

To receive the diploma, the trainee must complete the required coursework hours and pass the assessment administered by the Kenya National Examination Council.

Primary Teacher Education Requirements for Upgrading to Diploma.

The applicant must have a current PTE certificate.

The course will take 1500 hours to complete.

The course will be entirely residential and will last four terms.

There are three terms of tuition and one term of practicum.

The trainee must complete all of the courses specified in the upgrading program for the Diploma in Primary Education Teacher.

 

The trainees must complete a 300-hour teaching practicum.

To receive the diploma, the trainee must complete the required coursework hours and pass the assessment administered by the Kenya National Examination Council.
