Safaricom: Procedure For Sim Card Self- Registration.

0 729

The deadline for SIM re-registration is today (15 April).

The exercise has been going on for some time, and as is usual, many Kenyans have not been able to do so because it is in our culture that deadlines should be extended.

The re-registration program has been echoed by the Communications Authority of Kenya, and the idea is that the state needs to weed out numbers that are not in use, or those that have been registered fraudulently.

Telkom Kenya and Airtel have since released an online portal for SIM re-registration, but Safaricom had not.

For more information about how to update your Telkom and Airtel Kenya line, please click on the links below.

Safaricom has since caught up with the rest with an online platform, which now allows customers to update their SIM details via an online platform.

Here are a few things to note though: make sure your ID photos are as clear as possible because the system will fail you.

Also, try to update the details from your phone because the process is way much easier, and faster.

You do not need a selfie to complete the process, so you do not need to worry about that.

Your facial photo will be required, yes, but that will be done sometime in 2023.

Nonetheless, here is the simple update process:

Go to this link.

Enter your phone number.

Enter the one-time password you will receive via SMS.

Upload the front and back images of your ID.

Complete and submit.

NB:
The authority had directed on Saturday, April 9, that not all Kenyans are required to re-register their SIM cards, adding that one can confirm the details using the shortcode *106#.

Afterward, the page will alert you that the process has been completed successfully.

To note, the site is overloaded, for now, so do not give up in case you receive an error message.
