The August General Elections that were being conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission saw thousands of schools across the country having to close to allow for the process to go on smoothly.

As soon as Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Chairman Wafula Chebukati announced Deputy President William Ruto as New President Elect, The Cabinet Secretary for Education, Professor George Magoha, designated the 18th of August as the opening date for schools countrywide.

This saw hundreds of thousands of students head back to school on Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th of August 2022 after a week and a half long break at home.

Cases of schools burning have been on the decline since last year when many schools went up in smoke with the government unsure of what to do to mitigate the scourge.

This morning, according to the available reliable reports that we have from Kisumu City, there is a fire that has burnt down a building in Kisumu Boys High School.

This comes barely a day after the students of the school reported back to the institution for the continuation of their second term at school as per the reports that we have with us.

The cause of the fire is still unknown but the fire department has responded to the scene and efforts are underway to try and put out the inferno at the school.

All students have been accounted for and there is no casualties in the fire as per the reports that we have gathered from Kisumu Boys High School this morning.
