TSC Bans All Teachers From Taking Part in IEBC Jobs, Warns School Heads Against Issuing Permissions.

 

 

 

The Teachers Service Commission has warned teachers from taking part in the advertised IEBC jobs.

 

 

 

 

This comes a time when the electoral commission is inviting applicants for the interview and is seeking to recruit over 400,000 personnel countrywide to oversee the August polls.

 

 

 

 

The measure has been taken by TSC to prevent the teachers from being absent from school during IEBC interviews and trainings which will take place during school days.

 

 

 

 

 

 

In an evaluative text message sent to the school Principals and Head teachers via Sub-county directors, TSC has passed a tough warning to any school head who will allow teachers to be away from school in the name of participating in carrying out election process.

 

 

 

 

 

Teachers who will participate in the exercise will be considered as to absconding duty and delt with according to the law.

Most teachers teachers have expressed their frustrations towards their employer in social media after learning the move mostly in their school Whatsapp forum.

 

 

 

 

 

However, critics have argued that it is a tall order for the commission to completely isolate teachers from the exercise.

 

 

 

In the previous elections, electro commissions have immensely depended on teachers. It remains to be seen how this turn out.

 

 

 

 

Independent Electoral and Boundary Commission will recruit 302, 000 clerks, 52,000 Presiding Officers and 52,000 Deputy Presiding Officers to help conduct August elections. The interviews for the jobs are underway.

 

 

 

 

Requirements

Must be a Kenyan citizen with high integrity

 

Must hold a Degree/ Diploma Certificate from a recognized institution.

 

Must be computer literate.

 

 

Ability to manage people, sensitive data, and materials.

 

 

 

Good report writing skills.

 

 

 

Must be available for the entire period of the exercise.

 

 

 

Have communication skills.
