Following his accurate prediction of 17 matches, 22-year-old Eli Kipruto Rotich is
the lucky recipient of the KES 200 million Betika Mega Jackpot.
The winner was announced by Betika on Friday and he is anticipated to receive
KES 160 million as the jackpot amount is subject to a 20% withholding tax.
On Tuesday, when the announcement that the jackpot had been won was made, other winners who predicted 12 to 16 matches correctly received bonuses.
A free bet was awarded to those who correctly predicted 11 matches, and KES 2,814 was awarded to those who correctly predicted none.
This is the first time that the Betika grand jackpot has been won.
Rotich, who is also a student at Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, will receive financial
guidance from Betika on how to manage his winnings.
Rotich now joins the likes of Gordon Ogada, who won the KES 230 million
SportPesa Mega Jackpot in February 2018 and is still the biggest football jackpot winner in Kenya.
Others include Samuel Abisai who made headlines in 2017 when it was revealed that he had won KES 221 million after correctly predicting the results of 17 football matches.
In October 2018, Cosmas Korir won the KES 208 million Mega Jackpot. Cosmas Korir is the current Bomet County speaker.
Currently, the Sportpesa Mega Jackpot stands at over KES 278 million.
