The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati has finally cleared the air

hours after reports emerged that he has refused to open servers for the Azimio

team to scrutinize and recount votes for 15 polling stations as directed by the Supreme Court.

Taking to the internet, Chebukati has now affirmed that the servers have been finally opened for the Raila-led Azimio

La Umoja camp in company of a legal team sent by the Supreme Court and President-elect William Ruto’s agents to conduct the process.

“Following the Supreme Court order, the Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission has granted access to the parties to access the servers and the scrutiny exercise is ongoing,” he stated.

Raila’s legal team had demanded that they do a recount of votes in the aforesaid number of polling stations as

part of the scrutiny that will support their evidence in the ongoing election petition. Today is the first day of hearing

of the petition and will run throughout this week before the final decision is made. According to Chief Justice Martha

Koome, the final verdict would be announced on Monday next week.
