When it comes to global stage, Kenyan teachers do not disappoint.
In the year 2019, Mr. Peter Tabichi, a secondary school teacher, shocked the world by wining a prestigious Global Teacher Award Prize.
In the same year, Mr. Erick Ademba, another Kenyan teacher won African Union Continental Teacher Prize; an award that was won by a compatriot Jane Kimiti in 2020.
This year, teachers have another opportunity to put their names on the global stage and join Peter Tabichi’s league.If you are an exceptional teacher, then your chance to compete in the AKS Global Teacher Award (GTA) is open.What is GTA?

“Global Teacher Award recognizes and celebrates excellence in education on a Global scale. This Award honor exceptional teaching and culminate in a grand award ceremony witnessed by Print and Tele media.”

While classroom teachers can nominate themselves, Principals and Headteachers cannot; rather, they can be nominated by someone else.Register on GTA website using your email and phone number. Open your email and click on the verification link. Fill the following sections;
Section 1: Nomination Form; Personal Details, Professional Details & Self Nomination
Section 2: Photo Upload
Section 3: Self Evaluation: Self-rating from 1 to 5 on 10 Parameters.
Section 4: Recommendation by 5 Teachers
Each nominee must be recommended by five other teachers. Consequently, when filling the nomination, official name, mobile no, email id, designation & school name of 5 teachers should be provided.School nomination
Schools/institutions can nominate up to five teachers but can add more after sending the initial list.
1. The school/institution can nominate as many teachers they want.
2. The school has to fill in Name, Email ID, Mobile Number of the teachers of all the you want to nominate.
3. Initially it will show forms for 5 teachers. You can add more teachers after sending 5.
4. After school nominates the teachers, they will get a link on email and mobile number which they have to follow and register themselves and complete the nomination with other details.
5. The school/institution can see the progress of nomination of their teachers by logging in to their account dashboard.
Eligibility
GTA is open to anyone who wish to nominate.
The award is open to teachers/tutors/lecturers/Asst. Professor/trainers/instructors/faculty in learning institutions/schools/colleges/universities.
“This Award is open for teachers/faculty working in schools/institutions anywhere in the world affiliated to any board/university. You can be a College Faculty: Asst Professor/Lecturer/Faculty/Trainer/InstructorA minimum of two years teaching experience is required.
