President-elect William Ruto has stated that he will announce new fertilizer prices once he is sworn in this coming week.

Ruto, who was speaking at an interdenominational church service at Maua Stadium in Meru County,

also said that he is meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture to guarantee that flour prices are reviewed for the benefit of citizens.

“Next week, I’ll inform the country’s farmers who help us grow maize, wheat, and other cereals about the new fertilizer pricing.

They are currently purchasing fertilizer for KSh. 6,500.

This will be reviewed so that the yield is sufficient to allow for a decrease in flour prices,” Ruto said.

Ruto added that he had met with Treasury officials to examine the Kenyan debt, which has been dragging the economy down,

and that he had also met with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) to ensure that taxes be collected in a way that does not affect businesses or people’s livelihoods.

Ruto went on to state that Kenya needed to save more in order to avert the country’s large debts.

“We have asked KRA to stop being aggressive in forcing people to pay taxes and in the end ruining their businesses but to do it in an orderly and respectful manner.

We’ve agreed with them that every Kenyan must pay taxes, and I’ll be first on the line and ensure that others do as well,” Ruto said.

The President-elect also mentioned that he has scheduled a meeting with Somali President,

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, to discuss the two nations’ miraa trade.

William Ruto also stated that we would deal with ‘cartels’, whom he has frequently blamed for the economy’s breakdown.
