In what stands a chance to shock a number of Kenyans irredeemably, the Council of Governors, through the County Assemblies Forum, has, on Thursday September 16, submitted a Bill that proposes to pay the retiring governors, their spouse, their deputies, County Assembly Speakers, and MCAs lucrative perks as they leave the office after 2022 general elections, especially for the politicians who either will not make it back to their positions or are just constitutionally done with their term of elective service.

In the Bill, the governors propose to have a lump sum of a one-year pay with the current payout of Ksh.924000 every month that will bring the total pay to 11.1 million. Well, this sounds ridiculous? But wait…

The Bill also seeks to give the governors a monthly pension of a whooping Ksh.739200 throughout their lives, which, upon their demise, their spouse will receive 50% for the rest of their lives. Another episode for greed? But wait still…, they are not yet done with us.

The Bill further proposes that the retiring speakers of the county Assemblies be given a One-year lump sum of Ksh.3.1 million and monthly pension of Ksh.155925. throughout their lives, which, upon their demise, their spouse will receive 50% of it for the rest of their lives.

The MCAs who will have served for 2 terms will, in the Bill, be given a one-year lump sum pay of Ksh.1.7 million on top of the current monthly net pay of Ksh.144375.

The Bill further proposes that the retiring governors, their deputies, County Assembly Speakers and MCAs be given 3000 cc vehicles that will be fueled by the county government at the rate of Ksh.942000 per month.

The governors further demand in the Bill, that they, together with their deputies, Speakers and MCAs be given one personal Assistant each, and one housekeeper paid by the county government.
Well, that is us. Kenyans!
