President William Ruto now says all leaders in his Kenya Kwanza alliance will
be taken through training on etiquette during the political faction’s Parliamentary Group retreat in Naivasha.
President Ruto, who spoke on Friday when he opened the retreat that is set to run through the weekend, termed the table manners of some Kenya Kwanza
leaders during meetings as “embarrassing,” hence stating that the etiquette session will be necessary to equip them with the right behavioural skills.
The Head of State, albeit on a light note, intimated that a section of leaders within the camp do not even know how to handle spoons and forks, further adding that the training will be conducted on Saturday.
“Tomorrow we’re going to have a session to show you a bit of etiquette, we want to show you what to do because sometimes
we get embarrassed when senior people don’t even know how to hold a spoon or a fork,” he said, arousing laughter and giggles from members of the alliance.
“So tomorrow we’ll take time because we want to mentor everybody. You know some people take things for granted.”
President Ruto also stated that the Parliamentary Group meeting would serve as a platform for the senior leaders
in Kenya Kwanza to mentor their amateur counterparts as they kick off their duties in public service.
He urged the pioneers in the team to be role models to the newbies in matters of governance and self-wellness, cautioning them against ridiculing and looking down on them.
“I want to ask the seniors who are here, let us take time to mentor the newcomers. Let us make it our responsibility.
Don’t monolize anybody, don’t harass the younger ones and please be useful; show them how CDF and committees work, don’t assume people know how to do stuff,” he advised.
