Teachers employer Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has launched a crackdown on  employees who are member of a pressure union which is criticizing the commission.
Daily Nation reports  on Thursday indicate that as at November 18 six teachers have already been transferred to different work stations across the country as part of the crackdown.
These teachers are believed to be allied to a new union i.e the Kenya National Teachers Pressure Group(KNTPG) that  is a harsh critic of TSC’s TPD programme.
Given publication further indicated that more tutors are likely to face transfers in the near  future .
In the latest transfer, Ms Eva Muchemi was moved from her Nairobi County to Narok while  Fanuel Ambole was transferred from Machakos to Tana River. Ms Ann Wanyoike was moved from Nairobi to Kitui.
The other affected tutors are Jane Gitonga, Betsy Mitema, Julius Aloo and Kinyua Mwangi. More than 10 other teachers have, reportedly been issued with the transfer letters.
These  tutors however, have complained that the transfers were only meant to intimidate and coerce them into silence.
This  move comes just days after Martha Omollo, the spokesperson of the Teachers Pressure Group (TPG), was moved to Trans Nzoia County from her Mowlem Supaloaf Primary School in Nairobi.
Ms Omollo, who was pushing for reforms and better welfare of her colleagues, cried foul over what she claimed was an unfair transfer after she was moved from Nairobi.
“I received a call from TSC Nairobi County director through my headteacher who told me that I should be cautious of what I say to the media and that any issues I have I should go through the teachers’ unions,” she stated.
TPG spokesperson resumed her duty, assuming the call was nothing but an attempt to intimidate her. However, at about 4pm, she was informed that she had a guest from the employer’s office.
As at now ,it is  however not clear whether Mrs Omollo has since reported to her new workstation or not.
