The fate of Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi in Kenya Kwanza may be hanging in the balance if the Deputy President William Ruto-led outfit forms the next government.

This was after the former vice president failed to deliver 70% of votes from his home turf to UDA.

According to the IEBC, Azimio la Umoja One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga garnered 143,371 votes, while William Ruto’s Kenya kwanza party came second with 79,722 votes.

The vote tally showed Kenya Kwanza got 35% of the total presidential votes cast in the county. In his agreement with Ruto, the former Sabatia MP was promised a

chief minister position and a handsome share of positions in Cabinet if he marshalled at least 70% of his tribesmen behind the DP to form a government.

However, the ANC party leader promised to deliver 90% of Western Kenya votes to Ruto in the ongoing general elections.

Mudavadi downplayed the buzz generated by the demand imposed on them by the Kenya Kwanza Alliance, which required them to bring 70% of the votes to get 30% of the government.

second in command, keen on succeeding his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, through the August 9 elections.

“Mimi na Wetang’ula tuko hapa, Ingo imeshona. 70% ni kidogo, tutaleta 90 %.” Mudavadi said. (“I and Wetang’ula are here; we have consolidated Western Kenya. 70 % is way less, we will bring 90 %”).
